It's a quarter after six and I'm soaking wet.

When I was in high school, I begged my dad to let me have a paper route. Because I wanted to participate in so many clubs at school, I never would have had time for a real part-time job. But as the months passed by and  college started to come closer, money was always on my mind. I NEEDED that paper route! How else was I supposed to pay for college?! Well, I never did get a paper route. Oddly enough, a couple years later, after my first year at college, I have a paper route.

I should back up a bit. I know it's been a long time since I've blogged {sounds weird...}, but yeah things just got crazy!!! March flew by and all of a sudden it was finals week, packing week, and say-goodbye week at BYU. It was absolutely one of the most stressful weeks of my life. But I'm still alive! One of my good friends from school helped me store all my boxes and boxes of crap in the U-Haul I had rented out with some other friends. We shut the door, got in her car, and before we began our hour journey to Salt Lake, we stopped for what I think is arguably the best ice cream in the world: Sub Zero. And then we hit I-15! SCHOOL WAS OUT!

A couple days later, my dear uncle took me to the Salt Lake airport {there's a story there but maybe I'll save that for another time}. After a couple of heart attacks and a lot of panicking, I made my flight from SLC to Detroit. From there to Peoria, where I met my parents and three younger siblings. I was SO happy to see them!

A county road just outside Macomb
Since then, I've been here, in this precious no-where town in Illinois: Macomb. Every time I come back it seems like this place gets more beautiful. I think our little town surrounded in a sea of corn has somewhat of a romantic feel to it. Maybe I'm just really sentimental...

Downtown Macomb and the country
Unfortunately, I haven't been able to kick it back like previous summers. For almost two months now I have had the above mentioned job. Delivering papers to raise money for Mérida. Not the most dignified job in the world but let me tell you, it's not easy. This morning I woke up to my cell phone alarm at 4:10. By 4:18 I managed to pull on shorts, a t-shirt, and my muddy tennis shoes and made my way to our family Dodge minivan. By 4:22 I was at the downtown {if that gives you an idea of how small this town is}, picking up my deliveries for the morning. By 4:29 I finished putting $10.00 of gas in the empty car. By 4: 53 I had bagged all my papers into their orange sleeves and made my way to the other side of town. This is usually how a typically morning goes, but there was one difference today. It was raining.

Hence I am soaking wet.

Besides the rain and gas money and picky customers, I like getting up early. It's not even seven and I'm already wide awake {this is very unusual for me}! Every morning I get to wake up with the sun and Lady Antebellum playing on my radio.

Hence the title.

EXACTLY TWO WEEKS LEFT!
